It never went home but rather flew to Rome. The story of the EURO 2020 came to a close with the trophy having to search for greener pastures. Any way the grass was not greener at home as most people thought.

It was night for another record of for the fastest goal in a European Championship when the three lions took an early lead through Shaw at within 1 minutes and 57 seconds. The Englishmen knew it would surely come home but 88 minutes were too much to be too certain. The Azzurris pulled up a fight led by their two most experienced players who were really solid in defense. They won the first match of the tournament so easily but England proved too tough. But as the going gets tough the big boys get bigger. Yes, Chiellini and Bonucci stood tall for Italy with Bonucci ensuring the game went into extra time. Donnorrouma deserved the player of the tournament having already saved 3 decisive spot kicks in both the semis and finals. The 22 year old proves to be a good replacement of Buffon between and Italy will be safe between the sticks for more than a decade.

It was not a night for the England as three of their young lions missed their spot kicks ending their 55-year wait for a final in defeat. The talking point though is not how Chiellini pulled Saka to the ground but rather how the football world brought the three young lions down through the racism route. Football is a united game that unites the masses regardless of your gender, age, race or sexual orientation. It is an equal game that should be used as an instrument of unity. Racism has not space in the society it has to be stopped and it will only succeed if we are part of the movement.

Congratulation to Italy for their win. You fought the good fight 34 games unbeaten let the stretch continue. England has a pool of talented young lads to pull its strings together from. On to the next tournament and on a bigger stage.
