Teams'
Talking Point
Manchester
City
begins their title defense against the spurs at the Etihad. The Cityzens come
into the campaign having lost the champions league finals and repeat the
2017/18 and 2018/19 feat that saw them defend the premier league title. City
started off the previous campaign in a relatively poor form but got themselves
on track and won the premier league courtesy of a solid defensive line led by
Ruben Dias. The Cityzen rank the best in the premier league having 6 of their
players feature in the team of the season, De Bryune with the PFA, Foden with
the Young player, and Dias getting the football writers awards. If they are to
replicate this form, they can indeed defend the title.
Manchester
United welcomes the new season trophy-less, seeing both
the Premier League and the Europa cup slip from their hands. The Red Devils had
things in check, but vital slip-ups cost the Red Devils dearly. They welcome
Leeds United at Old Trafford, having won the previous fixture at Old Trafford
6-2. With the Sancho deal still in progress, United will have to look for a
Central Defensive Midfielder and Center Back to cover up their defensive woes.
They look good at the front, but a leaking defense saw them miss out on
silverware last season.
Chelsea:
Thomas Tuchel gets his first entire season underway against the manager-less
Crystal Palace. The German has been phenomenal after taking charge in the
second half of the season. Chelsea comes in as champions of Europe, having
beaten Pep in the league, FA, and the Champions League. With a contract
extension, the German tactician can scale the blues higher than the fourth
place they finished last season. However, despite Chelsea being title
challengers, a few additions to the squad would be essential to boost their
attacking options.
Liverpool
will be the team to watch with their defense-man back on the tuff and has also
brought in Konate to help in the defense. Thiago is set to make a comeback and
prove his haters wrong, having experienced a relatively poor season in his
first season in the premier league. The entire Liverpool defense line will be
back for the new season, having seen them struggle last season. Liverpool
proves to be a tough team as it finished third despite all of its defenders
being sidelined for the significant half of the season.
Arsenal looks into
reigniting themselves in the league as they have not continental football to
play for. However, concentrating all their efforts into securing their form
will be vital in retaining most of their first-team players.
Norwich City, Watford, and Brentford are all back in the premier league, with Norwich playing Liverpool, Brentford playing Arsenal, and Watford playing Aston Villa.
Insightful round up as we wait to cheer on the league
