Chelsea are Champions and Kings of Europe. Indeed the sky is not the limit to the Blues from London. A night that will go down in Chelsea's champions league history.

History has been written for Thomas Tuchel as the first manager to go to two successive finals and emerge a winner in one of them while managing two different teams. The 2021 finals provided a resurgence to Thiago Silva and Thomas Tuchel to win a trophy that slipped with them by the margin they won.

The Coutinho Curse followed Eden Hazard, who went to look for the Champions League at Madrid only for his club to knock him out of the semis competition and clinch it. Having taken them two from mid-season, Tuchel has brought a complete revolution at the club with his defense that has only seen him concede the least number of goals by a manager.

Pep was beaten three times by Chelsea and handed his first-ever champions league defeat in the finals. 100% record gone down the drain by one goal. His star player injured in the 70th minute and forced off the pitch only to see his side fall from grace to grass. The English champions handed a blow in securing their first-ever champions league trophy.

Match Talking points

Pep did overthink in the finals.

The Manchester city manager had his tactics wrong for the 3rd time in a row in the Champions League. However, this time it never denied him a chance to progress but to lift his 3rd Champions League trophy. Starting without a defensive midfielder was all wrong against that was strong in the midfield. A defensive midfielder like Fernandinho or Rodri would balance the midfield leaving no worries for the team if De Bruyne or Bernado Silva decided to play up field.

Tuchel had his Tactics right.

Tuchel did what he had to do score the first goal and hold Manchester City. Kante and Jorginho give the team defensive confidence as Kante was outstanding, being all over the pitch and winning the ball. No surprise he got the man of the match award.

Was Rudiger supposed to get a red card?

Rudiger clumped into De Bruyne, hurting his face and led to the Belgian being subbed off. Rudiger appeared to have clashed face to face with the Belgian as he went down, covering his face. A face-to-face collision would not have done such damage to the Belgian's face, making it clear Rudiger’s shoulders collided with the Belgian. Rudiger would have been given the marching orders for a bad tackle with no ball between the two.

Kai Harvetz scored his first-ever Champions League goal and won the tie.

Mendy became the first-ever African goalkeeper to have won the Champions League finals. Aguero’s dream to win a champions league at City was dealt a blow and ended in premium tears.
