The Future of European Football.

The Champions league is back and this time with the big guns from England, Spain and France. After a rather busy week off the pitch full of the Super League drama, European elite tournament resumes on the pitch with more exciting drama. The beautiful game that had seem to be disunited embarks on a journey to reconstruct and strengthen its bonds. Real Madrid still stand firm on the European Super league and Florentino Perez has issued that the founding clubs cannot leave the ESL due to the binding contract that holds them to the "closed shop league ".

It seems that the threats and warning by UEFA on the founding clubs to be disqualified from this year's Champions league do not stand as the Real Madrid is still in the tournament despite being adamant to pull out of the ESL. Resignation was witnessed at Manchester United with Ed Woodward announcing resignation from his Vice chairman role at the club. He however distanced the resignation from the ESL saga and claimed he was actually resigning from the role come the end of the year.

Uproar has been seen in England with fan calling out on change of ownerships in clubs such as Manchester United and Arsenal. #Glazer out and #Kroenke out being heard and seen from banners outside the football pitch. In deed football is for the fans.

The super league was however a good idea to increase the club's revenue and competitiveness of the game. The problem came in on the plan's execution. Inclusivity was the element that missed in the planning of the continental showpiece as well as lack of the sporting spirit as echoed by the City manager Pep.

"It's not sport when there is no relation between effort and success, it's not sport.

"It's not sport if it doesn't matter if you lose. I've said many times I want the best competition as possible.

"It's not fair if teams fight at the top and cannot qualify."

The super league was a brilliant idea, a tournament that brings Europe elite teams to one league but all this should be through teams attaining the football merits required to qualify as it is in the Champions league. However, football has evolved in into being a business franchise and therefore we should not rule out ideas that will be increasing the revenue streams. Facts remain as a match involving two elite teams will be generating more revenue in terms of broadcasting revenue as compared to a match between one elite team and another bottom of the table team. Old rivalry between teams plays a part in match viewing but it is slowly reducing and people want to watch competitive matches.

The super league is the future of football but with fans included.
